A comparatively new suburban area, Forestdale is located within close proximity to other popular Logan suburbs, Boronia Heights and Hillcrest. Forestdale has a mix of newer and older homes, acreage properties - set amid bushland - with homes likely to be brick and tile or of a more contemporary design. The Boronia Park Shopping Village, the Forestdale Shopping Centre and Middle Road Village Supermarket are the local shopping areas. Residents in this area, however, generally travel to nearby Browns Plains or Park Ridge for their shopping needs and for entertainment. The Grand Plaza in Browns Plains contains a shopping centre, cinemas and a bus exchange with services to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

There is a Boronia Heights Primary School but families with older children generally send them to Park Ridge High or to private schools further afield. Edwards Park has bike tracks and an outdoor fitness circuit set in a lush creek and park area.
